Browser App to Deliver Flash to iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch

Steve Jobs has successfully prevented Adobe Flash from getting on the iPhone for years, but a new iOS app promises to bring Flash video to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch without upsetting the CEO.

Demonstrated below, Skyfire is a web browser that automatically transcodes Flash video into HTML5 so it can display on your iDevice (instead of the blue Lego block symbolizing a lack of Flash support).

iOS 4.1 released for iPhone and iPod touch

Apple has released version 4.1 of its iOS operating system for iPhone and iPod Touch devices. The major update includes a number of new features and addresses several critical security vulnerabilities in the mobile OS. In total, the 4.1 release of iOS closes a total of24 security holes, 20 of which are related to the WebKit rendering engine used by the OS’s Safari web browser. The company says that all of the WebKit issues could allow an attacker to inject and execute arbitrary code. Continue reading

iPod touch gets revamped: retina display, FaceTime, HD video recording

Current iPod touch wasn’t thin enough for you? Look no further than… well, the new iPod touch just announced today. Naturally, Apple has re-upped its “iPhone without the phone” to include the Retina Display from the iPhone 4, an Apple A4 core, 3-axis gyroscope, Game Center, and FaceTime support thanks to the addition of a front cam. Oh, and speaking of cams, it’s also got a rear cam capable of HD video — but you’ll be paying a bit more than you will for that cute little nano: $229 for 8GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB (yep, 16GB and 128GB are both no-shows).
